How This Works

This is a great cause. It is a shame insurance companies do not pay for even part of these vital therapies. Early intervention is key in these children, and the rising statistics are schockiing. Autism speaks raises a lot of money for research. Is there any way some of that money could go towards a fund for families to access in order to help provide some of these therapies while cures are being explored and they are on waiting lists? Is this already happening and I just don't know? The money raised could help so many families while still funding research.

Everyone just needs to be more informed. It's nice seeing so much information on Autism. I have a friend that has been recently touched by this and my heart goes out to you all. Take it day by day and one step at a time.

God Bless these children, their parents and their teachers. May we find a cure for autism soon. As for the insurance companies that will not extend themselves for these children, I hope the execs from your companies burn in hell. Even if we do not have the money for all these children, there are ways around this. College students can do internships, students that owe tuition can work it off....things can be done about the "costs" because if you think about it, what are the real "costs"? Human casualties should not be an option....period!

this touched my heart...i know all different types of disabilites out there that children have...i will keep this close and watch once a day to help those children...amazing and beautiful things your doing "Five for Fighting," i have this in my thoughts and prayers...amen

We faught the use of made made chemicals for over three years. I wish I had not. It brakes my heart to say that 3 years of early intervention, school,OT,chiropractic, speach, gluten free and pecs did not bring us even close to him speaking or even eye contact. He needs OT every day for hours just to sit down for two minutes. Ot is not covered by insurance so he gets it once a week from the School District! He has never eaten food ever. His sensory modulation problems cause great problems with food. We tried him on Ritalin, Straterra, Adderal, and Risperdal. Straterra, adderal and Risperdal seem to be the best combo for now, finally. He looks at us and is able to sit long enough at school to do circle time. The educators, therapists, Neurologist and even his wholistic pediatrition agree that he is able to function better and is now eating some foods sometimes, not just ensure. We as parents should listen to our hearts not otheres and try everything! Not one child with autism is the same.

Although many children have had reactions to imunization shots, it is not the sole ansewr to the question of why. Many kids have not had any shots and have shown signs of autism since birth. The key to the ansewrs lie within our family history plus shots, food alergies and the many other enviornental triggers that have set it of. MY CHILD IS UNVACCINATED, he is severly autistic.. Most of the children in our support,therapy groups and his school, that were vaccinated regressed at about age 1-2 and they are not any were close to my son on the spectrum, he really is 100% autistic to the letter,or classic autism, completley non verbal.

It is great that a message like the one above will help educate people about children with autism. I believe that as an educator we need to find a way to reach these children. It also takes special teachers to work with them. God bless their parents and the teachers that work with these children.

Just do your research with what is in a vaccine and you will find your answer as to what is causing autism. Vaccines bring in $7 Billion dollars a year to the government...this is why they aren't telling you that they cause autism. Why aren't populations who don't vaccinate (the Amish and Mormans) experiencing the same 1/150 rate...maybe because every child who has autism...was vaccinated...there is your missing link. YOU WILL NEVER FIND A UNVACCINATED CHILD WITH AUTISM. Just trying to help those parents who are trying to do what is best for their children...the best thing to do is to let your child grow the way God intended them to grow...without man-made drugs and chemicals.
