How This Works
For all donations, whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com will distribute approximately 90% of money donated to the selected charities. This is determined primarily by the amount of views per charity and available funds. The 10% expense includes Revver.com's .01/view webhosting cost, California Community Foundation's 1.25% administrative expense and site maintenance. Contributions to the California Community Foundation represent irrevocable gifts subject to the legal and fiduciary control of the foundation's Board of Directors.
For videos which have received 30,000 or more views, whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com may elect to add a click through advertisement at the end of such videos to defray web hosting expenses. As our objective is to donate the most funds possible to our charities, this will eliminate substantial expenses incurred by revver's .01 per view charge on videos with millions of views.

Beautiful Video, brought tears to my eyes. My son, Tommy is PDD/Autistic, and is now 25. It has been a long road. Fortunately he is high function, and is very social, some levels he was able to achieve but most he hasn't. Diagnosed at the age of four. Went to Special Ed classes since he was three, graduated when he was 21. We live in Elkton, Md. I cannot believe the rate of autism and how much it has grown since Tommy was born. I am with you in the effort for the cure.
God Bless you and your family!!! Jean Doyle

In the news today: Golf star Ernie Els whose 5-year-old son is autistic supports Autism Speaks - http://sports.aol.com/golf/story/_a/golf-star-discloses-son-has-autism/20080307201509990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001
I'm a little confused about the post by "aspie" on 3/8/08 who is saying NOT to support Autism Speaks. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

Please don't give your money to Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks does not speak for autistics, it speaks for frustrated non-autistics who hate dealing with us. Give to a charity like Autistic Self-Advocacy Network instead, who would like to see us actually helped.

My wife has helped tutor an autistic child for the last seven years. He was three when she started. She is only one of nine or ten that did this over the past seven years. He currently is in a public school and has made the honor roll severa times. Thank you for your help in this effort.

absolutely beautiful video to help raise awareness and interest .
While you are waiting there are library books and better yet there are DVDs on object play therapy and other therapies that can make a difference at home...
Also feel free to contact me...i have worked with Autism and down syndrome alot and other developmental disabilites and their are interventions and cures that work at home. My experience and approach is based on ideas i have that these individuals need not so much to be adapted to our ways and us to theirs and to allow some unique and individual ABILITY TO BE DISCOVERED AND COME OUT...they are here to CHANGE US and to teach us more than we know and will learn when we learn how to relate to THEM, rather than THEM learning how to FIT IN AND RELATE TO US.
This in turn allows them to relate better to us.
There is a woman who has developed a way to communicate with her severely autistic son who never loses control emotionally which is unheard of with autism. She has been through extreme adversity in raising her son long before there was any good help....and on her own she found amazing and successful ways to understand and reach him and help him to do that with others.
She is writing a book about her experiences. she also made use of some radical approaches including use of natural tinctures to remove toxins that are often related to the causes of autism as well manipulations to the spine that affect brain functions...these are often unknown to traditional medical doctors but read up on the research and application of some of these and you may find them worth looking into.
There is a movement therapy called BRAIN DANCE by a recognized movement therapist in SEATTLE...and the DVD is available at most libraries. While you are waiting there is MUCH THAT CAN BE DONE...BUT IT DOES TAKE TIME AND EFFORT TO RESEARCH, READ, AND EXPLORE.
It is also important to continue your endeavor to get insurance and other assistance and not have to wait...but i wanted to give you more options.
I am not sure if i can help more than what you may find out there on your own.
i worked with music and movement alot and find some interesting results that when i worked with some individuals who were previously considered unreachable, they came out of a shell and changed.
One of my successful down syndrome students has a web site: www.dylankarts.com and was featured in a new magazine called logan magazine (produced and published by a disabled teen and her mom )and will be featured on PBS in May for the date and time check his website or email him there.
Perhaps logan magazine can do a story or something for you. YOu can find them through google.
I sub teach in public schools and worked for many years in movement and dance education and therapies in public and private schools, homes, agencies, etc. and am endeavoring to write about my extraordinary experiences .
You can contact me at: M.L. PO Box 21, Rainier, WA. 98576 and include your email and if you want your phone number along with a mailing address for replies.

What good people do today is wonderful, but lets ask ourselves, What can I do? Get information on it, lets do our job by being informed and then help, together we can make a difference too! Always remember KIDS ARE PEOPLE TOO! and they need us, lets do what we can to help.

This video was very touching to me. My auntie pat sent it to me by e-mail. I really think that people in this worl should actually pay more attention to others who have a disease that cannot be cured, other than being ignored and unagknwleadged. I have a cousin who has autism, and he has shown masive improvement over the years. He's my age, we are both 14, but between me and him you can see the difference. I am glad to have him as a cousin, he's awesome. But the world does'nt see things the way my family does and don't exactly realize what they go through. My cousin has had a hard time through elementary school and middle school. . .He's in highschool now, like me, and i just really hope that the world can notice people, and children who have autism.

Our son has PDD/Autisim - early intervention is critical and has (thank God) made a great difference in our son's life. I can't believe in our great country that these kids can fall thru the cracks. Shame on our government. With Autisim impacting our children & Altzheimers impacting our seniors - what type of country will we have 10 - 20 years from now if our government does not take a stand and make provisions for treatment??? May God keep, guide and comfort you as we all move through this desease.

This is proof that not all hope of good people has vanished from the earth. And as long as there is a single person who will do the right thing, there is always hope for the future. But then, to have 2447789 people who will do the right thing, now who can ask for more than that?

There is no cure for the disease. But there is one for the grief. For every view this video receives, another person will receive that subscription. Hence I shall watch until we have the cure for the disease. By then, that should be the only thing left to cure.

you think it's bad now-just be careful who you vote for this fall. "universal health care" will not look at autism as urgent enough. the wait will be even longer and the children will increasingly slip away. I have a friend in New Zealand who warns me of such health care. Why do you think Canadians come to the US for their care...

I have a son that is Five. He doesn't speak. Im patiently waiting for the day that my dreams come true and my little man says momma, or tells me about his day. It really hurts, and Im here for anyone that needs someone to listen.

I was totally moved by this video. Whenever you think you have it bad, look again as God's angels show you how you do not have it that bad. God bless you each and everyone dealing with this issue. I would be more than happy to ad an autism to my little known web site if someone would wish. Blessings~ Toni Howard www.scentedserenity.com
