How This Works

I too have a child that has autism!! Colton is 8 and has Aspergers and adhd at least I am able to hear him talk and thigs like that but to know what he is really thinking and feeling would be great! To not have him get so upset everyday that there is a fight and he wants to run away or to hear him say" My God what is wrong with me?" It is really sad and I pray that we find a cure one day!! Thank you for helping to spead awareness on this you are awesome!!

I'm so glad that support for autism awareness is finally being publicized more. Five for Fighting is doing a wonderful thing by donating money to autism awareness. What a touching video & the facts are just shocking.

It's so good to see people getting the word out there! That's what it's all about! & Keep fighting for that legislation. ALL People should have equal access to medical care, no matter what their previous conditions might be!!!! Fight this unfair system! It affects Millions of people each day!!! Especially the little ones with Autism, just waiting.

This story is sad but true!!! If only Doctors would open their eyes to the harm the do when they don't do anything but tell parents to wait. As far as Insurance they don't care about it cuz, it affects their bottom line -- MONEY!!!! I hate the insurance companies...you fight to get everything;they should just do what is right by the people who pay for it!!!!! God Bless your family and make things happen like they should for that precious like girl of yours!!!!!

I have worked with adults and children with Developmental Disabilities for years. The difference between those with early intervention and those without IS life changing. My prayers are with your daughter and to all parents and families struggling with and blessed by children with disabilities.

i also have a child with special needs. i can only say that parents need to get on-line and educate themselves about autism. parents play a huge part in how successful their child can be. most all counties where we live or one close by, offers early intervention services to most kids, before age 5. thereafter they receive services thru the school district. this is why we have the "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT" in place. between my husband, myself, and a team of teachers/therapist/doctors involved in my son's life, he has made beautiful progress. also i feel the lord gave me my son (to raise) for good reason...because he knew i could do a good job.

What a beautiful, truthful and soulful video. As a former ABA Therapist for the Autism Society (now a stay at home mom), I could not agree more. There is help and therapy, and early intervention is key. Sadly, as stated most insurance companies will not pay for these services, and most families cannot afford to pay out of pocket. Once again, those that need help the most are left out due to financial restraints. I pray that this will change soon, for all of the families and children dealing with the effects of Autism. Thank you for helping bring about awareness!

My oldest son has Asperger's as well as bipolar disorder. His psychiatrist told us that 50% of children with Pervasive Devlopmental Delays (Autism and the like) also have bipolar disorder. even more have just anxiety or depression. Don't let children suffer helplessly! Whether they are silent or are as verbal as can be, their emotions and feelings are harder to communicate. So when we see our child suffering over a simple thing like going to school, going to sleep, or having mood swings, don't be afraid to see if there is a bigger reason behind it. My son is one of my heroes. He is working so hard. Now they are suspecting what I've been sure of for a year now... that he is also dyslexic. Remember.. you have to be the advocate for your child... you are their warrior... their army... do not ever stop fighting for them.

Charlotte, My daugther's name is Claudia as well. She was diagnosed at age 1 1/2 w/ Asperger. She is now 11. A very aggressive early intervention was what made her a beautiful and functional kid today. I was blessed w/ free assistance and a lot of support. I don't think she would have been as if she never had Asperger if it weren't for the intervention at that early age. Please, it is important for people like you that are fighting for awareness to stress to millions of parents to educate themselves and learn the tools to rewire their children's brain. A lot could be done at home while waiting for help. I commend you and everybody who talks about Autism. I bless my experience everyday because my daughter is one of the most fascinating people I know who has opened my mind and heart further than any other could have. I will pass this to all my Claudia's friends.
